softball fields
When Mesa Jr. Closes, tear it down and replace the area with new good softball fields and a park, to replace the fields we are losing at Riverview.

Improve library programs for families
Have weekly (as opposed to monthly) baby-preschool aged storytimes at all three branches that implement store, dance & movement. Implement a "Science Saturday" with guest speakers and hands on activities. Themes can come from AZ state standards. Also, community based puppetshows based on literature. More holiday/seasonal programs. Homework help with volunteer tutors would be great wonderful as well

Gate all unused alley ways
Gate all the alley ways that are no longer in use (formally used for garabage pick up). This helps to cut down on graffiti on the fences, people driving in them and using them to do drugs or other illicit activites, cuts down on foot traffic as well and people using the alley as a dumping ground.
There are programs out there for this idea, I have seen in it in use in my neighborhood. Would be great to have this city wide.1 vote -
About Traffic Safety...
There are red light cameras, just what is the City of Mesa, the counties, and the state going to do about drivers who follow too close to the vehicle in front of them? So far I have seen NO enforcement of laws for maintaining a safe distance to the vehicle in front of them. Impatient "expletive" drivers

Locate the San Tan Brewery on Mcdonald St in downtown Mesa. Use the Alhambra hotel area.
Relocate the San Tan Brewery complex to South Mcdonald Street in Downtown Mesa, using the Alhambra hotel and adjoining buildings and parking lot. Great for downtown revitalization.

Will someone tell me WHY you need to wait till June 30, 2014 to buy the Buckhorn ????
Buying the Buckhorn TODAY make sense-for tomorrow will only add the price up. We all know that the Light Rail will follow to Power down the road. And when that is done the price will skyrock. Kicking the can down the road will only bring in other buyers with other ideas on what they want to do with that site. IT might end up as another Trailer Park or Inlet Mall ?? who knows-so get on with it and it Now. So the city of Mesa will have the right to make keep and make History. J.J.

Mesa needs an iconic "Welcome to Mesa" sign. Recently a film crew came into AMY and asked where it was.
Either at the East and West boundaries, Mesa needs an iconic "Welcome to Mesa" sign. Perhaps have a contest for design entries. Get the city involved with the process to encourage Mesa Pride. The sign could also be centered in Downtown Mesa.

Make the Downtown Main Street a Large Shopping Mall
Make the Downtown Main Street a large shopping mall by closing it and routing traffic to the north and south streets with parking and access to businesses from that location. (Model: Parsons, Kansas)

The Partnership for a Healthier America invites cities and towns to apply for $50,000 funding to start Play Streets: http://t.co/vLzq5JFP
Play Streets Overview
The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) invites cities and towns across the United States to apply for $50,000 in funding to get kids and communities active as part of the nationwide PHA Play Streets program.Play Streets close specific streets to traffic on a routine basis and open that space to the community to encourage physical activity. They offer a high-impact, low-cost approach to encouraging and increasing physical activity, particularly in neighborhoods that often lack sufficient open space for activity. I think the City should think about placing a pool at Freemont and Red Mountain.

Create Community Gathering Area to Watch Over Children Leaving From School
Bewildered children leaving school. No parents. Kids waiting. Create a community gathering area at a nearby park where parents, law enforcement and neighbors can watch over kids and also network, create safer neighborhoods and connect students with law enforcement.

Gluten Free Bakery
This is an idea that would be a natural compliment to the community garden. There are many people that would like to develope and sell GF products but do not have access to a certified gluten free kitchen. It would be self supported by the fees charged to use it just like other commercial kitchens. It would give Mesa a very big presence in GF movement because there is nothing like it anywhere in AZ. It has been done in other cities with great success.
