East Mesa - Hot Air Balloon Event
East Mesa should capitalize on the superstition background and create a event where all arizonans can enjoy Hot Air Balloon Event. Away from the city, Great panaromic view of supersitition mountain and Phoenix city of lights on the other. City of Mesa can get some sales tax out of this event from locals and snowbirds alike,

Recreational Program
Start a recreational program that rotates among a few select elementary schools in the Mesa area. This program will be open to all kids up to the age of 18.

Install More Bus Pullouts and Right Turn Lanes
Improve street traffic flow by installing bus pullouts at all intersections and add rights hand turn lanes at all major (mile and half-mile) intersections. This can be done during other street improvements.

Put building permit information online
Most AHJs already do this - put the building permit information online. This helps all in the design/construction industries keep up with opportunities. Would also save resources (staff time, paper, etc) in the permit department.

Modern parking management technology reduces urban blight, summer temperatures, and unemployment. Let's bring Mesa into the 21st century!
Mesa's minimum parking requirements were well-intentioned: build so much parking that it's never difficult to find a parking space. Unfortunately, forcing business owners with the costs of providing more parking than they would of their own accord causes them to raise their prices, and this creates unemployment as people do more of their shopping online.
Further, all the excess parking contributes to the urban heat island effect, raising temperatures in Mesa above their natural levels.
After dark, these parking lots turn into dead zones and attract crime. And frankly, parking lots are just plain ugly.
Let's reduce or eliminate these…

Turn Dying Malls into Educational Extended learning center
Turn Dying malls into extended learning centers for MCC, ASU, NAU and UA or any other private colleges that will like utilize it. Learning center for all ages would be great way to utilize and fill up empty spaces in the mall.

Soccer Fields in South East Mesa
While there still arent a lot of houses out there, add a large complex to compete with REACH 11 so that we can attract large tournaments to Mesa.

Build a professional sports complex in Mesa rivaling Reach 11 (Phoenix) and The Scottsdale Sports Complex (Scottsdale).
Having grown up in Mesa, having played youth sports in Mesa and now being heavily involved as a coach in competetive youth sports in Mesa, it is very important for the our city to focus on the future of our youth as well as Mesa's future financial stability.
