all small city parks
i like the idea of having a cover over the small parks with small playgrounds. it helps to keep the not so hot in the summer time and i like the idea of a fence or gate around it to keep kids in and safe.

Limit and Reduce Liquor stores and Smoke shops in Mesa NW particularly
The places with bars on the windows and drive-thru stores are a particular problem. they do nothing to improve communities. At the very least come up with some zoning laws about how close they can be to residential communities. I live in Casa Mesa II and there's too many within a 1.5 mile radius of our house. I will have to work on a count of smoke shops and liquor stores and report back

Need more trees and shade around the streets of major shopping areas to encourage walking
Living in the valle of the sun creates a lot of desire to commute with personal cars to avoid the sun. This is especially true in the spring to early fall months. More trees between the streets and sidewalks would shade the pedestrians as well as give a more pleasant walk. Not to mention the environmental benefits. And placed around large shopping centers, would reduce the need to drive from intersection to intersection.

Create A Baseball Hall of Fame (WEST) in Conjuction with the CUBS Wrigleyville Stadium
The Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY is well off the beaten path and most baseball fans have never been there. During Spring Training thousands of fans come to the Cactus League each year. A Hall of Fame West would be a great attraction for Mesa and create a destination spot for Baseball fans year around. The new stadium would be a destination "Gameday or no Gameday." The Cubs will not be able to do it alone, they will need Mesa to "Step-Up with resources."

Resynchronize traffic lights
We used to have the best traffic flow in the valley but last year the side street lights got out of sync - especially the side street lights. Synchronization of the lights is both green and a huge money saver for drivers.

Upgrade permitting and plan review system to allow for Eplan review
An upgraded system would benefit the Development Community by allowing Eplan review and allow for more efficient permit processing. The amounts of paper used to process large projects is enormous and highly inefficient. The Development Communities are moving towards paperless offices and with an upgrade to the system we would be able to more effectively accommodate the needs of the customers. With the number of plans on hand in the department it makes it difficult to provide plans when requested by the community.

Reduce property taxes
Reduce property taxes and Mesa Sales tax.
My property tax has increased 10% and the value of my home has declined 32% in the past 4 years.
Furlough city staff and Mesa teachers and reduce sales tax. this will put the city's budget in-line with the reduced school population and turn Mesa into a valley shopping mecca which would actually increase city tax revenue.3 votes -

Rehab for drug addicts and alcoholics
Give these people a chance when no-one else did. Joe Arpaio institutionalized good people who clearly need help. There is no focus on recovery. The jails make things worse. We are not showing these people self-worth. They need to be brought up, not brow beaten by bully detention officers that have no clue what it is to be addicted. Individually they need different rehabilitation and professionals that have not only been there themselves but show love and a better way of life. Only a true addict would know. I'm a professional addict and would-with love donate my time.

Earn Free Bus Passes by Contributing to Recycling
I work at the University of Phoenix- we have a recycling machine that you 'feed' and earn points from. The points can be exchanged for coupons and discounts or etc.
