Create better riding paths.
Currently the only places in the phx metro area to ride a bicycle more then a mile without stopping is the greenbelt in Scottsdale, or the long roads on the reservations. The canals can be better. Take the Santa Ana River in so-Cal as an example. LONG paths that go for miles.

Fiesta District - Streetscape
Implement the streetscape improvements discussed in the Fiesta District Handbook, which incorporated input from area businesses and residents. The Fiesta District needs to have streetscape improvements that define a sense of place for the district. These improvements should include wider sidewalks, more open space to create opportunities for community gathering and activity, more landscaping and better lighting.
149 votesThe Southern Avenue Streetscape Improvements project is the first project from the City of Mesa’s Fiesta District Implementation Plan along Southern Avenue. The improvements will create a uniquely identifiable area for Mesa that is economically vibrant, pedestrian friendly and an active urban destination. The project is scheduled to begin in April 2013 and is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2014. This project will transition Southern Avenue to four through lanes (two in each direction) from east of Dobson Road to Alma School Road. Other improvements include wider sidewalks and landscaping behind the new curbs. New amenities will be installed, which include benches, street lighting, pedestrian lighting, trash cans, bike racks and traffic signals. Colored paving enhancements will be constructed at the intersections of Southern and Alma School, Southern and Stewart and Southern and Longmore. Vibrant monument entry signs will be constructed at the intersections of Alma School…

Evening entertainment
Allow or cultivate a night life downtown. I just came from visiting a small town in California that has a really cool night life in the downtown area. Bars, restaurants, live bands, but quality, not quantity.
186 votesDowntown Mesa has been growing its nightlife over the last few years with several great venues for arts, entertainment and live music. The Mesa Arts Center and its five theaters schedule a plethora of arts and entertainment throughout the year. The Nile Theater and Underground have live music weekly featuring both regional and national acts. Many of the clubs and restaurants feature live bands, DJ’s and open mic nights – Monsterland Bar and Grill, De la Cruz Bistro, Lo-Fi Coffee and Kirks Sports Grill to name a few. Live music is a staple at all the downtown events including the monthly series Motorcycles on Main and 2nd Friday Out. This Saturday’s Mesa Rocks Block Party features six bands featuring national reggae recording artists IRATION.

The Modified Ellsworth and Mckellips Park Plan is now SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!
The modified park proposal for this location has begun the process of making this proposal into an extraordinary park for several reasons.
1. It provides access to a beautiful native desert
2 it avoids duplication of service that are located within 1-3 miles.A few more changes are needed to assure that this park protects the Sonoran desert it hopes to showcase. The park must be configured to meet the guidelines of the Desert Uplands and to assure that it can accommodate all individuals.
I am suggesting that
1. Trails width should be limited to 5 feet with an occasional…120 votesProjects included in the 2012 parks bond package are under way. See project updates and current timeline http://www.mesaaz.gov/imesa/meetingitems/3-26-13/ParksBond.pdf

A downtown place to tell Mesa's story
Let’s celebrate Mesa’s story and strengthen the emerging downtown arts and cultural district by renovating the city-owned historic Federal Building at 26 N. Macdonald Street. By making it the downtown home of the Mesa Historical Museum, residents can more easily learn how their city came to be and how the past is shaping the future.
215 votesThe City of Mesa has contracted with Ron Peters of HistoricStreetscapes and Vince Di Bella of Sameish + Di Bella Architects to do the renovation of the Federal Building in downtown Mesa. When completed in summer 2015, the Federal Building will house the Mesa Historical Museum and sections of the Arizona Museum of Natural History.

Create Mesa Riverview Lake
Extend the Tempe Lake idea into Mesa. In addition use quaries that have reached the water table. Fill them and use as in town wake board lakes.

iMesaLINCS
A partnership between the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, Mesa Public Schools, and the Mesa Public Library, iMesaLINCS is a place where residents of all ages could go to Learn, Innovate, Network, Connect, and Succeed (LINCS). The business community could use iMesaLINCS for business education, to receive assistance on doing business with the City, network, and enjoy a collaborative workspace. Students could visit iMesaLINCS after the school day is done to continue learning singly or in groups, using the same resources and technology available in the classroom. All residents would have free access to information and recreational print and digital resources…
56 votesiMesa LINCS, is now called ThinkSpot at Red Mountain Library. The construction is completed and the room is ready to be furnished and equipped. The coordinator for the space, Sarah Prosory, started April 15. Sarah’s previous position was at the Phoenix School of Law where she was the Emerging Technologies Librarian. Stay tuned for updates.

Connect Mesa Riverview Park to Tempe Town Lake via a Salt River Walking/Biking Path
Connect the new Riverview Park/Wrigleyville complex to Tempe Marketplace and Tempe Town Lake with a universal Walking/Running/Biking Path along the Salt River.
North Mesa is already a Destination for avid road bicylists who find the long East/West routes along Brown Rd and McKellips to be scenic and enjoyable. They can bike from Tempe Town Lake to the Superstition Mountains and back. Or they can head north on 87 to Fountain Hills.

recreation Area
We need space for our familie and children to play. There is land at Medina and Hawes that could be used as a site for a park or recreation area with playground, covered shelters for picnics, fitness trail ect...

Regional Pools
Mesa has built some great pools in recent years, but it has left a void in central and southeast Mesa. Build at least two more pools in these areas so all areas of Mesa can access public pools.

Bring back Pioneer Park
When I was young the park was an exciting place to play, the train was amazing, now it's behind a fence. Festivals like in Down town Glendale would bring life to the park and give her back her glory.

Expand Monterey Park
The 2020 Mesa General Plan calls for a regional park in SE Mesa. Monterey Park on Power Road has undeveloped land next to it. If acquired, it would be an excellent site for a regional park.

handicapped accessibility at Mesa City Plaza
The Mesa City Plaza building has two doors that need to be converted to handicapped accessible doors: the entry door on the south end of the main lobby (that leads to Main Street); and the door inside the lobby that leads to the hallway to the City Clerk's office, Conference Room 170, & the public restrooms. These doors are currently impossible for those confined to wheelchairs to open by themselves, and if they try to do so and fall or get hurt it could very easily turn in to a lose-lose situation.
9 votesThe City of Mesa is working to improve handicap accessibility at this location. Work is underway. An update will be provided soon when complete. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Take out the parking lot in the middle of Mesa Riverview and replace it with shops/nightlife.
Mesa Riverview needs to be more intimate and entertaining. The space is too wide with the parking. Put buildings in with more entertainment/shops and have two walking corridors on either side. This will allow more shade and for the misters to work. Then you have to attract some fun things to fill the space.
24 votesIn the area south of Toby Keith’s, the drive aisle and parking will be removed to make a pedestrian plaza.
