Finish paving the Eastern Canal Trail
The new bike paths that were approved are missing a 2.5 mile section that would connect 2 other existing paths resulting in a path going from Gilbert Rd & 202 all the way down to Pecos Rd in Gilbert spanning over 13 miles
The existing sections are asphalt and aren't as nice as the new stuff on the Sun Circle, but I think that's fine as long as it's all paved.
The section I'm referring to is along the Eastern Canal just North of Broadway here: https://maps.google.com/?ll=33.408406,-111.746858&spn=0.005427,0.008256&t=w&z=18

Fiesta Lakes to Become New Valley Destination Hotspot -Mesa needs this now more than ever to drastically improve the Fiesta District.
Show the City of Mesa that you support this endeavor by clicking vote on the left and giving us all three of them right now.
Fiesta Lakes is a new concept on a property that was initially developed as a 9-hole executive golf course in 1978 in the expanding Fiesta area of Mesa, Arizona.
Fiesta Lakes will be the first of its kind to combine a casual American beach tapas restaurant and bar, ten sand volleyball courts, a par 29 executive golf course, 18-hole Disc golf course, driving range, 2 championship bocce ball courts, and other active outdoor sports into…877 votes -
Encourage Mesa Riverview Shopping to become Live, Work, & Play
The site of Mesa Riverview is currently dominated by empty parking lots and empty pad sites. With close access to freeways, entertainment, shopping, and the incoming park across Dobson, this site would make for some premier apartment complexes. Make part of the project responsible for improving the pedestrian connectivity throughout the complex. Perhaps even a pedestrian bridge across to the Riverview Park.

Create a Neon Corridor
While driving past the newly refurbished Diver sign and the Starlight Motel, I was wondering if the City would want to offer incentives for business to use neon signage and create a tourist attraction of a "neon corridor"? People line up to see holiday lights at Christmas time so would it attract tourists?

Subway...NOT light rail.
We have the very best subterranean soils for tunneling and the technology to tunnel up to 1/2 mile per day. Think of the benefits, save billions just by avoiding abandonment and relocation of all the utilities under the streets. Eliminate surface congestion. Cool, safe and secure platforms below ground. Ease of routing to the best served areas without disturbing the road/street grids. Light rail is so 1800's. Subways are best and our valley is ideal for building them. Come on people, lets move into the future with subways not surface trains.

Flashing yellow lights for all school crossings on major streets, especially Center St for Eisenhower Elementary School
Yellow flashing lights on Brown Road near Mountain View High, Red Mountain High, Salk Elementary and Mesa Academy are very helpful in slowing traffic. Yellow flashing lights should be installed at all school crossings on major streets. Center Street north of Fitch Park urgently needs flashing yellow lights because the school crossing signs are easily confused with special event signs set out for spring baseball. Until yellow flashing lights are installed, school crossing signs should be set out for each lane since traffic can block visibility of a single sign in the center of the street.

Allow overnight parking at lightrail parking lots
You drive to the light rail parking and park your car. Now you enjoy the lightrail and many outings along the way and back. However, you get back to the parking lot and need to take a cab home - but you cannot leave your car their overnight. This is a huge issue that should be reconsidered.

Art students from MPS High Schools, picked & supervised by teachers, decorate utilities structures with urban art. Reward: recognition by Co
For West Mesa: a couple of urban art such structures already exist at Extension and Main and East of Dobson on Main.
I believe those were done by paid artists (not sure) The ones I propose would be done by our own art students (MPS ONLY!), picked and supervised by their teachers. They would be rewarded with City Council recognition (ribbon or whatever!) NO MONEY, except supplies. Studies show that urban art PREVENTS graffiti. Gives neighborhoods pride.1 vote -
Blighted Transmission Line Corridor - Don't forget about the old neighborhoods!
I am happy about voter approval of the cubs facility and other large park developments in the City. However, it seems to me that most of the investment is concentrated in the newer areas of the City. I would strongly recommend that city officials take a look at the section bordered by Stapley, Brown, Gilbert and University. In parts of this section, the transmission line corridor is not maintained and has created a blight on the neighborhood. The City finally stepped up and is maintaining the retention basin/transmission easement that is adjacent to the north side of the canal. However,…

Mesa Police Twitter System
A twitter page by the city police that is constantly monitored by officials, where citizens can tweet or privately message non-emergency situations (like updates on neighborhood watch, if the neighborhood is going to be goon for a week and to send more patrols, or if a loud party is going on nearby), and the police can react and adjust accordingly. Twitter can be accessed by computer or by most internet-enabled phones. This has been used in other cities, and has been proven to lower crime rates.

Upgrade permitting and plan review system to allow for Eplan review
An upgraded system would benefit the Development Community by allowing Eplan review and allow for more efficient permit processing. The amounts of paper used to process large projects is enormous and highly inefficient. The Development Communities are moving towards paperless offices and with an upgrade to the system we would be able to more effectively accommodate the needs of the customers. With the number of plans on hand in the department it makes it difficult to provide plans when requested by the community.

Will someone tell me WHY you need to wait till June 30, 2014 to buy the Buckhorn ????
Buying the Buckhorn TODAY make sense-for tomorrow will only add the price up. We all know that the Light Rail will follow to Power down the road. And when that is done the price will skyrock. Kicking the can down the road will only bring in other buyers with other ideas on what they want to do with that site. IT might end up as another Trailer Park or Inlet Mall ?? who knows-so get on with it and it Now. So the city of Mesa will have the right to make keep and make History. J.J.

Complete the park at Recker and Thomas. There has been a sign there for over 11 years that reads..."Future site of your Mesa Park."
If there is not going to be a park, can we remove the sign? It is misleading. 10 years ago we specifically selected Mesa over Chandler and Gilbert and moved to NE Mesa. We love it and are proud to call Mesa home. What is the plan for these plots of land that promise "future site"? I guess we in NE Mesa would ask that you define your definition of "future."

Bike Share
The city should create a bike share program that will work with the incoming light rail downtown like the one in Denver.

Hotel Signs
A park should be created in downtown mesa were all the “Old Historic” hotel , business signs can be on display (example: Mesa's Diving Lady sign) Along with the sign (which can be elevated on a pole) there can be some information on the History of that particular sign. This will give people an oppurtunity to understand the some of Mesa's history.
