Mesa needs to have better zoning control with colors they allow on commercial businesses and strip malls. Stick to neutral colors, beige,
Mesa looks so hodge-podge because it allows business to paint any color they want..have better zoning as far as colors and elavations, and the city will have more continuity. Stick to beiges, tans and light colored terra cotta.

Modern parking management technology reduces urban blight, summer temperatures, and unemployment. Let's bring Mesa into the 21st century!
Mesa's minimum parking requirements were well-intentioned: build so much parking that it's never difficult to find a parking space. Unfortunately, forcing business owners with the costs of providing more parking than they would of their own accord causes them to raise their prices, and this creates unemployment as people do more of their shopping online.
Further, all the excess parking contributes to the urban heat island effect, raising temperatures in Mesa above their natural levels.
After dark, these parking lots turn into dead zones and attract crime. And frankly, parking lots are just plain ugly.
Let's reduce or eliminate these…

Need more trees and shade around the streets of major shopping areas to encourage walking
Living in the valle of the sun creates a lot of desire to commute with personal cars to avoid the sun. This is especially true in the spring to early fall months. More trees between the streets and sidewalks would shade the pedestrians as well as give a more pleasant walk. Not to mention the environmental benefits. And placed around large shopping centers, would reduce the need to drive from intersection to intersection.

The Partnership for a Healthier America invites cities and towns to apply for $50,000 funding to start Play Streets: http://t.co/vLzq5JFP
Play Streets Overview
The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) invites cities and towns across the United States to apply for $50,000 in funding to get kids and communities active as part of the nationwide PHA Play Streets program.Play Streets close specific streets to traffic on a routine basis and open that space to the community to encourage physical activity. They offer a high-impact, low-cost approach to encouraging and increasing physical activity, particularly in neighborhoods that often lack sufficient open space for activity. About Traffic Safety...
There are red light cameras, just what is the City of Mesa, the counties, and the state going to do about drivers who follow too close to the vehicle in front of them? So far I have seen NO enforcement of laws for maintaining a safe distance to the vehicle in front of them. Impatient "expletive" drivers

Build a professional sports complex in Mesa rivaling Reach 11 (Phoenix) and The Scottsdale Sports Complex (Scottsdale).
Having grown up in Mesa, having played youth sports in Mesa and now being heavily involved as a coach in competetive youth sports in Mesa, it is very important for the our city to focus on the future of our youth as well as Mesa's future financial stability. Building a professional sports complex in Mesa allows Mesa's sports organizations a place to train, play and hold sporting events and it also enables Mesa the opportunity to host the largest and best sporting competitions in Az and the US. For example, Reach 11 and/or the SSC have hosted our Men's and…

Land Transformation (SW corner Mesa Dr. and Univeristy) -Weeds and Dirty to Productive Vegetable Crops
Lease the vacant property to a local farmer for a $1.00 under the condition productive vegetable crops are grown three times a year. The land is an eye sore full of weeds and dust and needs to be but to use until it has been sold or developed.
I would prefer to see green fields of crops over dusty dirt and weeds.

Build a dog park at Heritage Park.
We have many dog owners in the community that would love to have a place for our dogs. It is such a large space if built at the west end of the park it would leave probably use less than 30% and create a multi-use park. Three sides of the fencing is already there along with parking. The one side of fencing, a double gate, some trash cans, a spigot for water and a couple of benches is all that it would take!

Add a limited property tax ONLY to NEW residential property sales in Mesa to fund parks and development.
The idea of a property tax in Mesa has been controversial for years. How about adding a new limited property tax ONLY for NEW residential sales in Mesa specifically to fund parks and development. This would not effect any current property owner and at the same time would start to bring in regular income for the city to fund all the parks and increase development most of us want. I think we need to think outside of the box more often to fund and improve the city.

Stop spending our tax dollars on useless and wastefull projects.
We moved here to escape the lights and crowd noise. We enjoy the desert in it's natural state as God created it and the serentity that comes with it. Why does the government try and impose their ideals on communitites? Has there even been a determination that the community wants or needs this park? I would say there has not been one. You are elected as stewarts of the taxpayer's money. So please start fufilling your obligation and spend our money on important and usefull things. Not replacing a desert landscape with concrete, asphalt, lighting and grass, so it can…

Mobile Home/RV Parks
My suggestion is to coordinate a land swap of some of the Mobile Home/RV Park owners in east Mesa and the city of Mesa. The amount of Mobile home Parks in the east part of Mesa (roughly between Gilbert Road and Power Road and between US 60 and McKellips Road) is mind boggling.
Most of these residents are part time residents and lower income residents who generally don't have a lot to contribute to the local economy. A lot of businesses will not open in some of these areas, because there is not enough disposable income, nor are there enough…

Stop authorizing 99 cent and Goodwill stores on every corner in this city.
Stop authorizing 99 cent and Goodwill stores on every corner in this city. Every corner does not need a retail outlet. Look at other cities like the one I came from Simi Valley, CA. to see how a city can prosper without a store or gas station on every corner.

A downtown place to tell Mesa's story
Let’s celebrate Mesa’s story and strengthen the emerging downtown arts and cultural district by renovating the city-owned historic Federal Building at 26 N. Macdonald Street. By making it the downtown home of the Mesa Historical Museum, residents can more easily learn how their city came to be and how the past is shaping the future.
215 votesThe City of Mesa has contracted with Ron Peters of HistoricStreetscapes and Vince Di Bella of Sameish + Di Bella Architects to do the renovation of the Federal Building in downtown Mesa. When completed in summer 2015, the Federal Building will house the Mesa Historical Museum and sections of the Arizona Museum of Natural History.

I understand the use of the Zaharis School road for entrance to this park. also needs exit
The enrance for the road into Zaharis was poorly planned. They should have an entrance into the school from Ellsworth (Usery) Right Turn. Then exit onto McKellips which for the most would be a right turn. Chaos during the school year with parents dropping off students and residents of Boulder Mtn. leaving for work. If the park uses this dead end entrance will it create more traffic problems?

Turn Spook Hill Preserve into a mountain park
Spook Hill Preserve on the NE corner of Brown and Ellsworth is the last hill property in Mesa with views of the mountains surrounding the valley, great sunset/sunrise views, and is frequently used by runners and walkers. Depressed property values make this a great time to set aside the hill for area residents.

McKellips/Ellsworth future park - leave it the way it is. Too close to the school - inviting unwanted people to the area
McKellips/Ellsworth future park- BAD IDEA!!! Leave the desert alone. Also it's way too near the school. Inviting unwated people to the area.
