Create Mesa Riverview Lake
Extend the Tempe Lake idea into Mesa. In addition use quaries that have reached the water table. Fill them and use as in town wake board lakes.

Connect Mesa Riverview Park to Tempe Town Lake via a Salt River Walking/Biking Path
Connect the new Riverview Park/Wrigleyville complex to Tempe Marketplace and Tempe Town Lake with a universal Walking/Running/Biking Path along the Salt River.
North Mesa is already a Destination for avid road bicylists who find the long East/West routes along Brown Rd and McKellips to be scenic and enjoyable. They can bike from Tempe Town Lake to the Superstition Mountains and back. Or they can head north on 87 to Fountain Hills.

West Mesa bark park
West Mesa is a dead zone for dog parks. At Riverview Park there is a perfect spot for a dog park, which can be implemented with minimal cost. Just east of the baseball fields there is a long grassy area that can be fenced in. A parking lot is already available, all we would need is a fence, a double-gated entry, a drinking fountain, some trash cans, and maybe a few benches. Having a park in this part of Mesa would be great for dog owners, but also for nearby businesses (eg. PetCo and local restaurants).

Take out the parking lot in the middle of Mesa Riverview and replace it with shops/nightlife.
Mesa Riverview needs to be more intimate and entertaining. The space is too wide with the parking. Put buildings in with more entertainment/shops and have two walking corridors on either side. This will allow more shade and for the misters to work. Then you have to attract some fun things to fill the space.

New stipulations regarding retail projects
I am putting this in the Riverview section because it is clearly a problem that Riverview has highlighted.
It is not beneficial for the City of Mesa to move retail outlets from a struggling location in the city (Downtown, Fiesta) into an area which has received, and will receive, hundreds of millions of dollars in public and private investment. Several storefronts now sit empty because storeowners moved to Riverview and away from Fiesta or Downtown.
Future public expenditures should clearly spell out in the contract the amount of retail ventures which can relocate from other areas of the city. It…

Connect Wrigleyville to Mill Ave via a Shuttle during peak vacation season
People on vacation want new experiences, and the freedom to enjoy themselves without the risk of DUI, crowded parking, vehicle theft, etc..( Downtown Denver has a similar service, and it works great.)
During spring training here in AZ, this service would allow the Tempe/Mesa area to become a distinct entertainment destination. Together we have everything right here, for every age group!
...from twenty something college crowd to 40-50 country music crowd and everything in between.12 votes -
Offer Recreation Programs in West Mesa
Schedule recreation programs in west Mesa and during evening hours. I feel like I have to go to Tempe or Chandler if I want my kids to participate in any extra programs. Driving 20 minutes to Red Mountain for a 30-minute class is a waste! For swim classes, there are none in west Mesa in the evening.

Encourage Mesa Riverview Shopping to become Live, Work, & Play
The site of Mesa Riverview is currently dominated by empty parking lots and empty pad sites. With close access to freeways, entertainment, shopping, and the incoming park across Dobson, this site would make for some premier apartment complexes. Make part of the project responsible for improving the pedestrian connectivity throughout the complex. Perhaps even a pedestrian bridge across to the Riverview Park.

Riverview Park as Centerpiece for Wrigleyville West
With Riverview Park and golf course being redesigned into the Cubs' spring training facilities, make the public park on the corner the crown jewel of the development. It has the potential to be an outstanding public space with integration of the lake, shade, picnic areas, the playground, Wrigleyville West commercial areas, and the stadium. The park piece can drive the public interest in the rest of the development if it is done right.
4 votesYou’ve imagined, now it’s time to invest and improve! The iMesa Steering Committee, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Transportation Advisory Board are considering a series of proposed park development projects and bike/pedestrian pathways for inclusion in a Capital Improvement Plan. Riverview Park is included in this plan. Join us at an upcoming community meeting or provide your feedback online. http://www.mesaaz.gov/parksrec/Parks_Development/default.aspx

Create A Baseball Hall of Fame (WEST) in Conjuction with the CUBS Wrigleyville Stadium
The Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY is well off the beaten path and most baseball fans have never been there. During Spring Training thousands of fans come to the Cactus League each year. A Hall of Fame West would be a great attraction for Mesa and create a destination spot for Baseball fans year around. The new stadium would be a destination "Gameday or no Gameday." The Cubs will not be able to do it alone, they will need Mesa to "Step-Up with resources."

Secure House of Blues for Wrigleyville West
Most major destination cities have a House of Blues. The strong ties to Chicago are obvious and would be a great destination entertainment venue year-round.

Build a small arena near new cubs stadium
Build a smaller scale arena next to the news cubs stadium. A venue to host many events. Possibly the home of minor league hockey team, the ASU hockey team, ice hockey tournaments and a variety of other events. The small arena would pay for itself in a very short time. Monolithic style **** that seats 8000 or less. It can be used for concerts, theatrical productions, circuses, mesa high schools graduations, small conventions, sports venue for high school basketball games, volleyball, gymnastics, corporate or church functions. Could also be used as a venue for ASU sporting events especially if ASU…
